Our Answer
At McDonald’s South Africa (SA), traceability is a key requirement within our supply chain. Due to our stringent quality control processes, we are able to trace our patties back to a particular production batch at the plant. This, in turn, can be traced to the beef sourced and used in the batch to particular lots of beef from a specific slaughter facility. The slaughter facility can trace the beef in those lots, back to the animals harvested and which feedlot they were from.
