Are chemicals used at the farm level in growing potatoes for McDonald’s?

Our Answer

Potato farmers will only use pesticides, fungicides and fertilisers on their potato fields to help protect and ensure a healthy crop. Farmers who grow potatoes for McCain (who supply McDonald’s), work with company agronomists to determine when and how to use pesticides, fungicides and fertilisers. McDonald’s require that any chemicals used must be registered and approved for use, globally and locally, to ensure that we comply with regulatory requirements. We need to farm high quality potatoes which have achieved the appropriate levels to also minimise the impact on the environment.
